Verdict
Half trueWhat we checked
The central scenario projects a zero balance in 2041. That is a conditional projection, not a certainty.
The investigation
Section 7.4 of the study based on data at 31 December 2023 projects the fund’s trajectory. Its conclusions and annex examine assumptions and sensitivities.
Exhaustion of a projected reserve does not itself establish the end of all pension payments: contributions, public budgets and funding rules also matter.
Context
The Fund explains that studies rely on the current system and assumptions. Demographic, wage, investment-return and policy changes can affect results.
Right of reply
The Fund publicly describes assumption-based projections. No public reply specifically addressing this check located at closure.
How we reached the verdict
Half true if stated without conditions: the projection exists, but the model does not guarantee the future. We have not recalculated the actuarial study.
Limitations and unavailable information
The report says the projection excludes extraordinary transfers allowed by law. We do not estimate the impact of future reforms.
